Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Cochin and Transfer to Munnar
Upon your arrival at Cochin Airport, our representative will greet you. You will then drive to Munnar (approximately 140 km, a 4-hour journey) and check into your hotel upon arrival. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure, enjoying the serene surroundings. An overnight stay is arranged in Munnar.
Day 2: Munnar Local Sightseeing
After breakfast, spend the day exploring the local attractions of Munnar. Situated at the confluence of three mountain streams—Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni, and Kundale—Munnar is located 1,600 meters above sea level. This majestic hill station was once a summer retreat for the British government in South India. Your sightseeing itinerary includes visits to Mattupetty Dam, Kundale Lake, and Echo Point. In the afternoon, proceed to Rajamalai, where you may spot the rare Nilgiri Tahr, a unique species of mountain goat. Overnight stay is arranged at your hotel in Munnar.
Day 3: Munnar to Thekkady
After an early breakfast, check out from your hotel and drive to Thekkady (approximately 110 km, a 3-hour drive). Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Spend the afternoon on a sightseeing tour of Thekkady, home to one of the world's most fascinating wildlife reserves. The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary spans 777 sq km, with 360 sq km of dense evergreen forest. Noted for its diverse wildlife and scenic beauty, the sanctuary was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. Optional activities such as boating on Periyar Lake, visiting a spice plantation, bamboo rafting, trekking, and elephant rides are available at an additional cost. Overnight stay is arranged in Thekkady.
Day 4: Thekkady to Kumarakom
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and drive to Kumarakom (approximately 170 km, a 4-hour journey). Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Spend the day exploring the charming backwater hamlet of Kumarakom, located on the western banks of Vembanadu Lake. The backwater stretch covers over 900 sq km. You can choose to explore this backwater paradise by canoe, motorboat, or houseboat, immersing yourself in its natural beauty. Overnight stay is arranged in Kumarakom.
Day 5: Bird Sanctuary Visit and Departure
Early in the morning, around 6:00 AM, visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, a haven for birdwatchers. After breakfast, check out from your hotel and drive to Cochin Airport (approximately 85 km, a 2.5-hour drive) for your onward journey.
